How to install mods for Witcher 3 on CrossOver 21 to play on macOS
I’ve been playing Witcher 3 on my Mac and yes, it runs really well as long as you have relatively powerful GPU on your setup. Having played for a while, I’ve found some parts of the game unnecessarily tedious and have wanted to install some mods to make the gameplay less painful. After all, I’m just really there for the story. So here’s how I’ve installed the couple of mods for Witcher 3 on CrossOver just in case you too are looking to do the same. If you’re wondering, I’m using GOG’s DRM free Witcher 3 GOTY version 1.32.
And in case you’re wondering how to install Witcher 3 on your Mac in the first place, here’s my guide to do so. Do note that you will need Codeweaver’s CrossOver 21 software to get it to run.
Getting mods for Witcher 3 on CrossOver to work
Firstly, you will need to download the mods itself. Head over to Witcher 3 mods section at Nexus mods and download the mods you want to install. Personally, I am just looking to install the fast travel from anywhere and 9000 weight limit mods.

After that, use CrossOver to open up the C: drive of your Witcher 3 bottle. This is the fastest way, lest you want to try and find it yourself.

Once open, look for the game’s base installation folder. For GOG’s GOTY edition, it will be installed by default at “drive_c/GOG Games“. Here, create a new folder called mods. Then copy over the extracted mods files into this new folder.

That’s it. If the mods you want to install are scripts based, you will see the scripts getting compiled before the game launches. If it comes as a bundle, I believe the game just loads up like normal.

That’s it! When the game loads, you can now validate if the mods are working fine.
