UGREEN 100W GaN Charger: One Charger to rule them all
In a quest to find the most convenient work and travel charger for my devices, I recently bought the UGREEN 100W GaN charger. TL;DR, it’s almost the perfect charger. With 3 USB Type-C ports and 1 USB A port, it charges all my main devices: MacBook Pro, 11″ iPad Pro, iPhone 13 Pro and Apple Watch.

So honestly, you can basically skip this post and just go ahead and buy one now. 🙂 The version I have is the 3-pin UK which is quite different from the US version as seen here on Amazon. I bought mine at Shopee, a popular e-commerce marketplace here in Singapore.
But do read on for some of my thoughts on the UGREEN 100W GaN Charger.
A brief review of the UGREEN 100W GaN Charger
The charger comes in a very simple packaging box that protects the charger well. So you don’t really have to worry of any damage during shipping.

No frills, just the charger.

Let’s take a closer look at the charger unit itself. As mentioned, one of the main draw of this UGREEN 100W GaN charger is the 3 USB Type-C and 1 USB Type-A ports.

Of course, you can only get a maximum of 100W in total. Here’s is the list of power outputs depending on the charging ports used.

Comparing the dimensions
Here’s a quick look how the UGREEN 100W charger compares with the Apple 87W MacBook Pro charger and Baseus 65W GaN charger.

First up, let’s compare the dimensions of the chargers. As you can see in the photo above, the UGREEN’s charger sits somewhat in between the three. It’s larger than the Baseus 65W GaN charger but is relatively less bulky compared the Apple’s MacBook Pro’s charger. But considering that its a 4 port charger, it is actually really compact since you need to add in additional chargers to match the 4 available charging ports.

Length wise, the UGREEN 100W GaN charger charger comes up tops as the shortest in the pack. I added the 3-pin plug adapter for the Baseus charger since I have to use it here in Singapore. But even so, the UGREEN is still shorter compared the the Baseus actual length.
Here’s how the UGREEN 100W charger looks like when it’s stored in my Tumi electronic cord pouch compared to the Baseus 65W charger. It is really compact and I don’t need to carry another USB-A charger to charge my Apple Watch.

Comparing the weight
Now, let’s compare the weight of the units.

Here, the UGREEN’s unit again sits in the middle of the pack at 275g. The Baseus one being the lightest at a mere 170g, while the Apple’s 87W charger is at 316g. But 275 grams is still rather hefty. Especially when compared to the Baseus 65W charger.
In case you’re wondering, 275 grams is about the same weight as a 250ml can of coke. It’s alright just itself. But when you are already carrying a lot of items in your backpack, every little bit of weight counts.
And because of this, I sometimes still decide to use the Baseus 65W charger instead of the UGREEN 100W charger when there are more items in my backpack.
In conclusion
All in all, the UGREEN 100W GaN charger is a great addition to my array of accessories. being able to charge all of my primary devices when I travel is great as I don’t have to worry about packing it’s respective adapters. At 100W, I can easily charge my MacBook, my iPad and my iPhone at the same time.
If only it could be slightly lighter 🙂 Then again, not needing to carry any additional chargers already makes up for the weight.
As I mentioned right at the start of this post, I highly recommend getting the UGREEN 100W GaN charger. It works really great and is my daily charger I use for work and travel at the moment.
